things u would want to happen to one of your leagues
« on: January 20, 2004, 12:45:07 PM »
Ok, i know everyone wants to make a bowling league in which they can get rid of all the crap they hafta deal with everytime they bowl, so heres your chance to vent or express your opinion.

Well this is my ten things i would wanna see changed in the leagues i bowl in.

1- No more THS, put out a shot that is tough yet score-able.

2- get rid of Handicap, or limit it

3- make it where you can only use 2 balls per game, 1 for strikes one for spares, if strike ball is changed after a game, person would hafta use that ball for rest of the game.

4- with a reference to #1 have the shot change every third week.

5- have a 5,000$ first place prize

6- have 30 teams, and have a bracket type roll offs

7- have money prizes for honor scores and averages over 200

The way this year is going, I'd like to see two of my leagues do what NASCAR did for the Winston... Invert the standings of the field and start over! LOL.

It would be nice if houses would fix their ventilation systems so that the smoke-eaters functioned properly...barring htat, a smoke free league is rapidly rising to the top of my wish list (I'm sick of sinus problems the day after having to spend three hours around smokers).

Smoke free leagues, where I live, they put a smoking ban on any new businesses, well my favorite house was sold, and since lost it's grandfather clause and is now smoke free.  How did this affect things?  Well, the Pins are now white, not yellow!  Leagues are as busy as every, although and the end of every game, it takes a few minutes to start the next because all the smokers run outside to get their smoke in.  It hasn't hurt anything, and I don't smell like I smoked 20 packs.  I was afraid it would kill the leagues, but now I think they are better than ever.  In fact, a lot of new bowlers have started showing up since it is smoke free.

Michelle - Move to New York!! We banished the social leppers to the great outdoors! It's nice to breathe again. Why smokers think it's ok to blow smoke and violate my space is beyond me.

Because before our country went politically correct on all sorts of things, cigarettes were okay in most people's books.  Then when second hand smoke carcinomas starting popping up, people decided clean air is better.  Nothing wrong with that.

I have a portable fan I keep in my bowling bag that runs in AA batteries.  If some smart-alek wants to blow smoke in my face (most on the league know I don't particularly like it), I whip out that fan and blow it right back at 'em.  They learn their lesson pretty quick after that

Start on time, and EVERY bowler ready to bowl when it's their turn.  Maryland already has smoke-free centers.

I like your 1# suggestion.
2# isn't bad either but it does make things interesting most of the time.
3# sucks, sometimes you need to change more then once. i agree no more the one ball in a rack per person.
4# is a good one there also(cause lots of whining thou)
5# we have a 7000 dollar one
6# is a great idea, but need to find that many teams.
7# I like that idea but in my one league we have way to many people averaging 200 to give money for it.

But these are my opinions and it doesn't mean i am right.

1. Fine people who kick/hit/etc the center's equipment - add to prize fund or offer it to the house to help keep lineage down.
2. Different lane condition every week.
3. Winning total pins should be worth more than winning a single game or at least as much
4. like to see one league where prize fund was based only on points won
5. "mystery score" jackpot every week

My league pays by total points won for both halves, not final standings.  The house raised the lineage a quarter before the season and we raised our fee a dollar to $14 per week, and we'll be putting $5.20 per bowler per week into the prize fund.  (Lineage is $8.80).

We have both Mystery (for games 1 and 2, costs $2.00 to get in) and Progressive Mystery.  Progressive is cool because it's only $1.00 a week and only one number gets drawn, and if no one matches the pot keeps rolling over.  Last week it was broken to the tune of $395.00.

We voted to make the prize money per point $7.14.  The prize committee upped the per-point money and subtracted a little from the high game/series prizes, and the league liked the idea.
