Title: Thinking about changing back to regular thumbholes

I have been thinking of eliminating thumb grips from my balls and go back to regular thumb holes. What does the plugs feel like? Has anybody changed back. Thanks for your input.

I use a mold for my thumbs, I actually prefer the feel of the plug.

On top of that, my thumb doesn't change sizes or fluctuate much

I tried it in a hy-road which has a thick cover stock. The thumb will feel a little more sticky. Not much, or unusable, but definitely more sticky. So it depends on what thumb hole you are comfortable with.

At least if you try it, and then want to put in a slug later, nothing needs to be be plugged.

I went away from thumslugs years ago because of the tape i added to the thumbhole it wasnt really needed.

The only issues are occasionally I have to redrill the thumb holes because of changes in the ball. It shrinks parts of it creating a wedge feeling and has to be redilled with the same size bit to get the hole back to the original size top to bottom. Had it happen on a few as soon as two weeks after drilling and others never have that issue.

The second issue is occasionally because of the different layers and densities the drill bit will not leave a perfect smooth hole on the inside. Some areas may open up slightly more then others and depending on where it is doesnt feel good. If that happens I just add a slug. Easy fixes in the event it isn't to your liking.

The ball itself rarely causes problems, however I do have to redrill the thumb holes on occasion. It causes the hole to become smaller in some areas, giving the impression  of a wedge, and necessitating redilling with the same size bit to restore its top-to-bottom dimensions. Furthermore, there is not much variation in the size of my thumb.
