what part of the lane is the best part to play
« on: July 05, 2009, 04:56:03 AM »
i am not talking about inside outside etc i am talking about breakpoint wise we see on patterns like the scorpion that you should play a dominant characteristic of the lane surface on medium length sport conditions (2 of the 5 named patterns). how do i know what the dominant characteristic of the lane surface is it is normally the track but how do i know if its further right of that or maybe further left

Break point depends on how you bowl, just you. If you knock all the pins down consistently it doesn't matter everyone bowls a little different so don't worry about where the break point starts worry and work on ways you can move it to more than one spot then you will be stepping up.

Who cares how you spelled something?? Like 4PinhatesMe has never screwed a word up somehwere

Second that. Bowler styles are very different, and even though you might have a stabndardized pattern like the PBA patterns at hand, what works for one player must not work for another - there are lots of factors involved.
I'd rather follow a pragmatic approach, in order to achieve an effective and consistent ball preformance:
- Find a line that yields as much hook and entry angle as necessary to take out the 5 pin, and that you can play comfortably. Basically, less is hook is more, especially in the long run.
- Make sure you get the ball into a roll before it enters the pins, that it stops hooking just before it rolls into the pin deck - that's the ball's most powerful phase on the lane, and any reaction sooner or later will cause trouble.
- Keep a keen eye on your and your opponents ball reactions. Adjust early and avoid drastic steps, if possible.

You might notice that I did not mention any break point at all - just from personal belief that the break point can be almost anywhere, as long as you can hold the ball in this area and the ball just develops a "good" reaction that actually makes it work on the lane, not just hook.
