I spent the end of the season subbing for a guy that was banned by ourlocal association and now the ABC.
I don't know him but I understand he averages 18x to low 190s in leagues and often near 220 in tourneys!
I don't know what evidence they have to prove it.
So last night we bowled (we were short squad and lost everything by default), the second place team. We were first. Rolloff next week. The league secretary is on their team, I thought he was a nice fun guy to talk to, and 4 young guys. Also the league secretary(their captain) explained all the nuances of the guys banning, roles timeframes etc.
First two games our two man team wiped them out, as they averaged around 125 per man! (of course we lost by default). The shot was outside of 10 with a lot of carrydown! These guys in general were playing 15 and 20 out to 8 and leaving washouts every frame. They also shared in their Elvis plastic spare ball.
The week before after they lost first game and sealed second they all threw Elvis for two straight games!! Averaging near 130.
Last night the young guys all entered a pot game for game 3 and switched to their heavier oiler stuff and shot the following.
257
206,
199
and the fourth shot
123 as he was trying to shoot a 126 triplicate.
Probably after all this futzin around they only lowered their averages 2 to 3 pins over the last two weeks.
Who should be banned again?
I've never seen anything close to this type of performance before?
REgards,
Luckylefty
PS 257 above was high man and his scores were, 117, 149, 257. Not bad! Average 186.

Hmmmm...
A blatant violation of rule 17a in full view of a league officer (secretary) - exactly how did they get away with this without reprecussion?

One too many pins in the rack again!

League Secretary is their Captain!
Also, the rule states?

I know sandbagging goes on regularly. I have witnessed it.
I do not think it is fair to ban that bowler because he bowls better in tournaments. I believe the proper move would have been to simply re rate him.
I have never been rerated, but I almost always bowl better in tournaments. I bowl in a very difficult house, so when I go somewhere else it is usually much easier.
There are 2 factors that I feel eventually lead to me doing better, #1- When I bowl during leauge I am also working, chasing pins, working the front desk and dealing with any other problems that tend to arise, #2- When I bowl in tournaments the focus is there more. I don't have to worry about anything else other than bowling. Knowing that more is at stake, focusing on every shot matters.
That is my opinion. I thought the rule was to rerate someone, not ban them.

That's what this post is about.
I bowl better in tournaments because the warmup is longer and the pace is often faster, courtesy is high.
My point is the inequities of this banning vs the behaviour of the members of the league secretaries team. Again given the two scenarios, I'm not sure if the right people were banned!
rEgards,
Luckylefty
PS I've never seen anything as blatant as last night(BY a WHOLE team).

Oh, I thought the league sec. was on the team you were subbing for. Here's the link to ABC playing rules - check out rule 17a under the "General Playing Rules" section : https://www.bowlingmembership.com/PDF/03-04PlayingRules_workingcopy.pdf

As far as the guy being banned, I don’t really have a problem with it. Lack of warm up pace, working, etc can explain 10 or 15 pins. This guy was average 30 pins over his league in tournaments. That’s too much of a discrepancy in my books.
Your league experience was just about as bad. It was sandbagging. If they did this on a regular basis it would greatly affect their averages but one night the affect would not be too great. It is sad that the secretary allowed it to go on.

He threw Elvis the plastic on heavy oil all night!
REgards,
Luckylefty
PS HE"S on their (bagger) team!
-
Whole team for two games!!!
REgards,
Luckylefty
Ps average increase in score for 3rd game including MR. 126 triplicate was almost 80 pins a game! Scandalous!

Did you report this to anyone? My guess is the tournament bowler got banned becuase someone got fed up with his antics and reported him. As I'm sure many can attest to, just becuase someone is a league officer, doesn't mean they have any sort of moral or ethical fiber. I would think at a minimum, if the secretary was reported, it could be banned from holding a league officer spot in any sanctioned league in the future.

Lucky,
Take your own advice.
I would not bowl in any league where this secretary bowls and especially not in any league where he is the secretary. He cannot be trusted. He is a lying sack of .... detritus.
