Anyone else bowl on this years Nationals Pattern?

I bowled on it tonight and it really wasnt what I expected. I had a real hard time moving left as the night went, 4 guys on the pair one lefty, one guy using a Regin of Fire, One guy with a World Beater, and me with a dull Solaris Requiem, hardly dented the track area, and after the first game moving in became a over under nightmare.

I have bowled in Reno before had 1822 last year and understand that their surface and oiler is dramtically different from the surface and oiler at the house I was bowling at but the line was not even close to the same, it started similiar and I dont know if we broke it down wrong, or if the pattern was that different. But as the night went they tightened up and got ugly. Their were other pairs around us scoring very well, but I was stuck playing a five board swing 15 to 10 and praying for carry.

As you guys bowl on it put up your opinions.

How it plays is totally dependent on kind of machine, lane conditioner used, type of lane surface and amount of wear/lane topography. Generally when I have practiced on what houses put down is just a generalization of how it will play not specifically how it is going to play. Then, add to it number of players, equipment used and the cross and it's a shot in the dark at most. But, it's better than practicing on a house shot.

I bowl this weekend, and USBC will be streaming our pair live Saturday night if you want to see how we play them. I'll have a write up middle of next week about what I saw. There is a lot more volume up front than last year, which will help the pattern hold up longer. I do think though that if 7 or 8 guys on a pair can throw 4 shots a piece during warmups right down 7/8 they can do some damage to the track. Not enough that you can move in and play a league shot, but maybe just enough to move parallel and play something smooth around 10/12 at the arrows.

I also threw on them last night, also at Super. Played pretty much how I expected them too and very similar to last year. Started with feet at 23 and threw straight up 8-9 with an Anarchy at box and 4x4x2. Had a little wiggle room (free hook) wide. Not a ton but a little. Where I noticed the difference was more miss room "in" which is what I though might be the case when I saw the pattern posted. I was actually the one that let thenm know it was up if they wanted to get it out for league. Shot 190 to open but missed a 10, a 7 and left a 2-8-10 in the 10th. 10 pin, I stuck, dead stop when I went left to shoot at it. 7 just moved to far right and hooked across the front of it, and the 10th frame just got careless. Came back with 225,225, 212. no opens the 225's but on the 212 had a blower 7-10 on a rack shreader and left a 9 that I olayed and hooked across the front of in between 6 strikes. Could have stayed on that exact line all night as Gary mentioned only 4 per pair. But, last two I wanted to try a stronger hand position with more tilt and have a look so I moved two left and threw 10 and still had a good look. Had a Reign of fire on the pair and a Nano. Last year in practice we saw a very similar look in what Super had been putting out comapred to the stadium so I trust it should be similar this year as well. I look for them to obviuosly transition much quicker and more often but I think if you can get on it early and keep up... like last year will be very scorable. I know Gary and a few others struggled. At just under 850 I was about 10th high on the sheet with one more 8 under me. I only sub in the league but I think there are about 30 bowlers in it. In talking to some of the others that did decent the feeling was they where similar and agreed there seemed to be a little more hold from the start. A few wished we had doubled up to get more of a feel for transition with when and how much. I get to bowl the next two weeks on it for one of the members that will be gone with Dirty's crew so we'll see how or if it stays consistant.

Good shooting last night Lenny. I moved in way to early, I started to see hook and thought I could get in farther and no I was way wrong. Moved back to the right and had a decent look but I had a case of the yanks on the left lane for some reason. The third game I messed around with different balls, and didnt really find anything, went back to the Requiem the final game and started it good then died in the last few frames.

You are right I struggled my A@# off last night.
