Threshold Coverstock?
« on: July 30, 2008, 04:11:44 AM »
I just aquired a Threshold 2 weeks ago and really like the reaction I am getting from it.

I am wondering what exactly the coverstock is. i have heard pearl particle, just wondering if this is true. It really doesn't react like a pearl particle, but then again I have never owned a pearl particle. Just wondering

I love my threshold.  Smooth reaction down lane and keeps the pins low and hits hard.  Would never have thought it had particles.  Reacts more like a pearl.

The NGS is a pretty good ball, actually. It takes surface changes well, and also takes different hand positions well. Compared to the Threshold original, the NGS gets down the lane a bit later (drilled pin over fingers, MB strong), and makes a smoother move than the Threshold. Due to the Threshold's particle/pearl cover, I think that's what makes it flipper off the backend (it is that way, in my eyes). Pretty good ball, I haven't thrown it in forever, but i'm not really looking to sell it at the moment.

Speaking of MB, what indicates the MB on the Threshold's, the one I have I see no MB marker, I was assuming it didn't have a strong enough mass bias rating to have one on the ball or it was drilled out by thumb hole.

MB marker on the Threshold NGS is the letters "CAP".  I had one and it was a pretty strong ball.  If I remember correctly, the coverstock was a solid/pearl hybrid with Mica particles.  I'm not sure of the MB strength.

This renders the ball useless.

Please send me the ball so it might be properly disposed.
