Focusing on one company for me lets me expect releases from the company, and know more about the dynamics of the balls, instead of being all over with different companies. It also helps to limit your bowling balls with just what the company is releasing.

I can see how people can be dominant about which company their throwing, but it's dumb when you think about it.  Just get the ball that does what you want, no one really cares.  No one is being represented by you if you're just a typical league bowler (as most of us are).  Some guys here are really religious about this stuff.  Others do it just because they like the stuff to match.  They'll say "well, that's so I know what I'm getting and so I know what those balls do..." and blah, blah, blah.  Just buy whatever you want, geez.

I made the switch to that this year, and the advantage is building a complimentary arsenal.  You know how ball A stacks up to ball B and Ball C based on what the manufacturor tells you.  Where as if you are using multiple companies, your guessing on how the balls are going to compare, which can make a purchase an expensive mistake.

I throw Dynothane right now, though with the demise of that company/brand, I'm looking at other stuff.  Top of the list now is Banger and Rotogrip.

I like keeping an arsenal to a single company, the relative positions of the equipment is known and determined by the company, instead of guessing two balls from two different companies are comparable or different.

It's easier to maintain an arsenal from one company because you're dealing with balls that are specifically designed to compliment each other as opposed to companies competing and coming out with similar stuff, not to mention a company will use the same core or cover.  Also you have less releases to think about to fill in any gaps.  However, the trade off is that you may miss "the ball" for you from another company or another company will start producing stuff that works better, but you've become too focused on only wanting the stuff from the company you currently use even if it's not optimal.  I think that using primarily one company is fine, but purposely locking yourself out from other companies and acting as though you're a staffer is not advantageous.

See most of the folks that are focused on one company are either:

Tried a whole lot of different brands and one company in particular is best to them. (me)

Or - the first ball they buy, and they build up on that ball because they liked the company's services, etc. The same point can be pointed to car companies as well, you have your Ford people, and your Chevy people. Same difference.

For me, I have been to almost every company out:

Brunswick
Columbia300
Dyno-Thane
Ebonite (Many)
Hammer
Lane #1
LaneMasters/Legends
Morich
Storm (Only company I throw as of right now)
Track

So for me, it was basically a match up. I used to be all Brunswick, because my first ball was a Viz-A-Ball, and then went to an Ambush, and Scorchin, so you kind of get the idea of the whole trust to a company. I then moved on to Track, and then Ebonite, and blah, I am really stuck to Storm as of right now though.

I only have Lane #1 balls -- and I like them -- but tonight I felt kinda dirty. I was bowling open with a Gold level coach tonight for fun after a league meeting who was a friend of a friend.

He had a Zone and a plastic ball. By the end of the night I realized I needed to learn hand positions while using only one ball (along with a plastic). He could leave 10 pins at will while showing what happens with certain situations and throw it up the one board on command. Not just hit the one and hook in, but ride it 3/4s of the way down the lane. Amazing stuff. Gave me a new outlook on the game.

It left me feeling like I've depended on matching up my shot to the lanes by switching to a ball that read it best rather than focus on mechanics to adapt. Oh well. Got a lot to think about for the summer

Nothing but Brunswick for me. I have not thrown any other brand in at least 3 years. Brunswick has always matched up with my game better going all the way back to the urethane Rhinos and the Grizz.
