Throwing A New Ball?
« on: August 21, 2003, 09:08:04 AM »
Hi:

I know how eager everybody is when they get a new ball to throw it all the time. But say you had a big tourney coming up the next few days would any of you guys throw that ball in the tourney? Also would you feel comfertable to throw it? And how confident would you be with it since you just got it a few days ago?

That would all depend on the lane condition at the tournament and if that ball would fit that condition.

Hey man, Id bowl at least 3-6 games on the ball before using it in a tourney.  For me personally, it seems like every ball releases just a touch different, even though everything is pretty standard.  You dont want to lose 3 frames to a competitor with the ball either sticking or falling off or just not releasing properly.
Unless of course, you know you can whip the guy no matter what

I have no qualms about throwing a ball in competition that I have just drilled.  If I have just drilled up a new ball but have not had a chance to throw it in practice, I'll still bring it out at a tournament and see what it does during my practice shots for the tournament.  If I like what I see, I'll use it.  Otherwise, it goes in the bag.

Whether I drill it myself or not, I work out all my own equipment, so the feel will be the same as all my other stuff.  I still feel that nothing hits like a brand new ball, so why waste all that hitting on practice shots?

Hi:

Guys thank you for all your replies. But to me why buy a ball and put it up for sale so soon. If you know the ball wasn't going to fit your game why buy it?
