throwing strong equipment on dry
« on: June 05, 2004, 08:34:31 PM »
what would happen?
im having trouble putting enough revs on the ball, making it hard for my ball to have a nice sweep into the pocket. i consulted a coach and he told me i have to get the strongest equipment out there or change how much hand im getting behind the ball. my question is that my house is usally med-light mostly med, if i buy a huge hooker like the bcb, scb, or ui will it hook alot on a more on drier conditions? i heard a ball burns out? ive have about a 190 average and i feel its the next step to increase my strike percentage, due to my spare is uncanny. what ball can i buy without changing my style.
thanks

I'm no expert .. there are plenty here. I will tell you my findings. Try two AMF balls for the conditions you describe. The TRIUMPH and the JUSTICE PEARL. I don't say go out and buy them NEW .. but watch for deals on USED balls .. pick the right one and I think you'll be VERY happy.

Lots of luck!

is it true that the ui and scb will not hook much on med-dry?

Your coach is out of his mind. A track animal or either of those AMF's will burn up and hook less then what your throwing now. Now what you CAN DO, is get a strong DRY LANE ball. It will be the best choice for you. For instance, a Brunswick Monster Slay/R is a dry lane ball, specifically made FOR dry lanes, and will hook more then a heavy oil ball on dry. Read up on the ball, usually it has the techinal specs and the intended lane condition.

Headach, I'm not saying it is the best one, but look at the Lane 1 Uranium labeled drilled. There are a lot of people throwing this ball with great success. For me, it is the best ball I have ever owned. For someone else, it might not be, but I do know that there are alot of people out there right now that don't care for Lane 1 balls, but they had to give the Uranium a try and love it. This is the only Lane 1 ball I would recommend.
