Thumb hole fitting correct.ly???

If my thumb hole is slipping a bit before release is it better to use black or white tape to tighten it up a bit?  Where do you place the tape in the thumb hole?  With changes in weather I am constantly adding tape and taking it out every couple days.

It depends on what feels right for you. Feel is hard to describe. Although there are exceptions, I believe most bowlers who use tape put the white tape in the front and the black smoother tape in the back. Some bowlers use only the white, or only the black. There are also different textures to the tapes depending on the manufacturer. Since you described 'slipping' as your problem, you might want to try a piece or two of white tape in the front - especially one with a little texture to it to improve gripping. I use a smoother white tape, but my thumbhole is ovaled and fairly tight - so I never slip.

Try a thumb "cushion" at the back of the hole. They are pieces of foam rubber with plastic that come in different thickness. The foam contracts and expands so you get a perfect fitting thumb every shot.My favourite is the Schur Thumb Cushion or the Thumbillow is OK

i'm a beleiver in only taping the nail side of the holes to snug them up. as long as the span feels ok i'd rather not alter it with tape on the pad side. i like the auto or hardware store plastic tapes better than the bowling company textured or black. a wiley old shop pro who was a tape afficionado showed me his technique on getting a good feel/release and it changed my life. he used 1 in to 1/8th in tapes built up in front of the thumb knuckle. made it a lot easier to remove pieces during bowling when the thumb swells but demanded a little more prep time.
