Spare Ball
« on: May 20, 2010, 12:59:47 AM »
This Summer I'd like to really work on my 10 and 6 pins.  I know I am missing too many and would like to try something different.

Right now I have a spare ball that's 16 pounds (as is my entire arsenal) but it feels like it is heavy to throw out to the right and keep control.  I think this is part of the problem.

Would anyone recommending going with a 14 or 15 pound spare ball?

I throw a spare ball that is one pound lighter. It helps me throw a little faster since my spare ball tends to hook a little on the back end.  I have no problems with timing with the lower weight.

That sounds like me. I also had trouble with that corner with a 16 lb plastic ball. I now throw a 14 lb plastic and I am much better at keeping the ball on target because I can get thru it better. I do have to watch the "chops" because now, the 14 goes straighter. Plus I'm in my 50's and it's much easier on my arm!

Perfect, sounds just like what I need.  Since I don't care about pin deflection all too much with shooting spares on the right, I think I will go with a 14.
