candlepin bowling on west coast?
« on: September 17, 2008, 07:40:10 AM »
What do people think about a candlepin bowling center on the west coast?

would love to hear what people think.  please indicate if you have ever played yourself.

I have been thinking that it would be great to have a center out here due to both the challenge and also the ability for people of any age, strength and physical ability to do it.

I personally know a lot of older people who have quit bowling because they refuse to drop below a certain weight ball.

Being from New England, I've bowled candlepin many times. It's a good time, but I'd never be able to do it regularly. It's too frustrating for me, haha. It doesn't help that 95% of the candlepin bowling centers feel like dungeons since they were built decades ago and are trying to survive.

But, it's definitely something fun to do once in a while, unless of course you make the mistake of doing it right before bowling league. If you thought your equipment weighed a ton when you hadn't bowled in a few days, try zinging 3 pound balls down the lane for a while and then try to throw a 16 pound ball. Ouch...

I just think it would be a blast.  I do see where some people may not want to bowl a league because it is so hard but I think other people would do it a lot because it so hard.

Think it would be funny to see 220 average bowlers shooting 80's and 90's if not even lower!

does anyone know of the closest place to San Diego that has candlepin?  Or do I have to go to New England to check it out in person.

My Dad's family was from New England and when we were up there watched it on TV.  Looks like it would be a lot of fun and different.

I was JUST talking to someone on bowlingchat.net about how it's impossible to candlepin and duckpin over here. We need it badly!
