Thumb Swelling
« on: December 01, 2008, 04:52:25 AM »
Does anyone know of anything that is out there to account for a thumb that swells as the game goes on, i.e. something like a spongy thing that would give as the thumb expands. I thought there used to be something like that available.  ANY imput appreciated  Thanks.

Ron Clifton's Magic Carpet does the trick for me.

The Thumbillow is also available.  I've tried both and prefer the Magic Carpet.  --  JohnP

I also use Magic Carpet and like what it does for me, as far as not having to squeeze the ball to hold onto it.  However I have been having issues with thumb swelling starting around the middle of the 2nd game on... I've been EZ-Sliding my thumb 2 out of the last 3 weeks to help eliminate sticking. I'm thinking what I need to do is sand out the thumb hole a little bit, then add the Magic Carpet, then add tape... then take the tape out as my thumb swells up.

tan125  --  That will work.  For customers that use the MC I add 1/32" diameter to their normal thumb size.  As the thumb swells/shrinks the MC will compress either more or less and you won't have to change tape as often.  --  JohnP

Exchangable thumbholes also work pretty well.  I have three different inserts that are progressively larger.
