Thumb&Finger Pitches
« on: October 25, 2010, 09:25:47 AM »
This may seem a stupid post as i've been bowling for 49yrs. I dont think i have ever had a ball fit me perfectly until the last couple of months when i started getting things done. Before when i bought a new ball i just left it to whoever drilled it who said do you want it done like the ones you have now and usually i said yes (all my fault).A couple of months ago after reading some of the posts on here about spans long & short and thumb and finger pitches and what a lot of you have done to get your balls fitting like a latex glove i decide to give it a go even if it meant some extra work and time for the driller ( i dont like to put people out to much if i can help it feel if i'm a burden on them). I started by getting my span shortened and a side pitch on the thumb, just had some reverse on the fingers as being 66 my fingers are not to flexable they only flex about 50% this has made a big difference to the way the ball comes off my hand rolls off much better and looks like many more revs. Even though ive had a 210 plus ave for the last 15yrs i still think i can improve more.I think i could even make the span shorter so it feels even better dont want to go to far in all this but the guy i have doing this is much younger and so helpful and seems to know a lot more than some of the older drillers i've had in the past. Maybe some of you have had this problem if your around my age and not wanted to or thought your own driller would just fob you off.

Thanks for reading this it may help a few older players.
