DEMO DAYS ..
« on: March 02, 2004, 07:18:14 PM »
There is a center in NC that will have an EBONITE DEMO DAYS this week end (Mar 8). I visited the Ebonite site and noticed that there were quite a few INTERESTING balls going to be available so I called to make a reservation.

I was surprised to find that the attendance price was $40. Can those that have been to these events advise as to what the attendance price was? I'd appreciate any information you have to offer!

Thanks in advance!

NOTE: I realize this is about EBONITE .. however I want to reach ALL the bowlers that have made these events in the past. Thanks!

I have seen them range anywhere from free up to $20 or so.  The price is set by the host Pro Shop.  Often the fee or some portion of it will be credited toward the purchase of an Ebonite ball or other Ebonite products which are further discounted for participants.  The fee also covers lineage and any refreshments that may be provided.

Joe, they have had both a Ebonite and Hammer Demo days in OKC. The cost each time was $20 in advance and then when you show up, they refunded $12 leaving you with a real cost of only $8. This $8 covered the refreshments they furnished you plus one full hr. of bowling with the Demo Balls. Also aperson received a 10 or 20 percent (don't remember which it was) discount on the purchase of one of their balls. A really good deal.....Yes, that $40 is way out of line. I wouldn't even consider it or give it second thought.

The Pro Shop I work at ran a Hammer Challenge.
The cost was $30 and went to a purchase of a ball if bought within 30 days.

One center was $15 with a $10 gift certificate.  The other was $20 also a $10 gift certificate.

When I first moved to Raleigh .. I was telling people on this site how PRO SHOPS were networking among themselves FIXING prices .. it was tough getting people to believe me. My complaint then was DRILLING CHARGES .. now maybe those doubting PRO SHOPS will see what I was saying. FORTY BUCKS for DEMO DAYS .. it angers the HECK out of me!
