« on: July 10, 2008, 12:55:59 PM »
Not sure if anybody posted this question. I don't mean to offend anybody but I here it all the time from Patrick Allen on telecast and when I went up to Carolier to watch the US Open, I constantly heard yea Hoss. Im just curious, dont mean to make fun of anybody.

Since Hoss is slang for a big horse, capable of carrying lots of weight, it is often used to indicate that the Hoss has carried others, such as when a game is won by one teammate bowling really well, picking up the others who bowled lousy.

quote:
Here in East Texas, we usually use it as a slang word for big guy(or girl) or usually associated with power.
"That guy who hit the homerun is a hoss!"
or
"Did you see what that hoss ate?"

I have heard it the other way too, "Whats up Hoss" but even then it could be seen as Big Guy.

Same here in North Texas!
