I've come to the realization that I need a ton of free friction to the right. Any time I bowl on a shot with a little hang, I just have to pitch one or two shots wide - which end up in best case leaving a washout...worst case an open. Either way, this doesn't add up well on the scoreboard.
Ive found that my speed/rev combination does not typically allow me to play "up the boards". Therefore I'm always playing left to right through the heads. When I have some room or a dry area to hit, I usually score well. When I have hang...or some OB... or have to be within a few board window down lane.. results are not typically good. A.K.A. definition of the house hack.
Difference is that I know this and am not delusional about it (unlike some others).
Is it possible to improve? I don't think repetition is the answer... I go practice - I pick target and break point - and then begin. I hit it three times, miss once, hit it again etc. I don't see how I improve by doing this.
Is it more mechanics and improving form that will lead to improvements in consistency? Is it just pounding out 50 to 75 games a week? Or am I destined to be a house shot league bowler with a 40+ pin average delta between house shot and tougher patterns?
My more pressing issue is my slightly tougher house shot this season. I'm down 10 pins in average and unless something changes (or I find something), there doesn't seem to be any real improvement in sight.
Maybe I change my release and try to play straighter and avoid swinging the ball so much?
Ideas? Suggestions?
