Have any of you changed from a slide type of approach to a plant and throw approach with any success? Ive been thinking on trying this to improve consistency at the foul line..exp sliding 2 in one time maybe 3-4 the next depending on the condition of approach.. really screws up timing.. Am I wrong to think its easier to stay on tempo with the plant app.. Any help would be appreciated

I bowl a lot in street shoes doing demonstrations and planting is all you can do in them. I am a natural slider and find that I have very little problem adapting. It takes a little practice but do what you think is more natural for you. The true test for planting and I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend it is bowling barefooted. It only takes once to realize it is not a good thing. After you are picked up off the floor you will know.

I've gone from a fair amount of slide to very little slide. I don't fully plant, because I have knee problems and I don't feel like finding my knee down the lane, but I only slide a few inches now. I find that it helps my timing and it gives me a little more leverage at the line. It also allows me to stay on balance better.
It takes some practice indeed but once you get it down, less slide might help you. It depends on your game, generally as a rule of thumb, the guys with less hand and rely on accuracy use more slide, and the power players use less because they need to be able to get leverage on the ball. So it all depends, different strokes for different folks I guess. Good luck!
