To those who generally go with one company.....
« on: October 16, 2008, 02:28:29 AM »
What are your reasons for only going with one company?  Also, let's just say that company didn't exist, who would you go with?  I only thought about it because my brother throws stuff from many different companies, and asked me why I only throw Track.

I was kinda shocked to realize that I really only throw Track because the first ball I had was Track.  Kinda silly, but yeah, whatever.  I've thrown other brands, but don't now.

If Track didn't exist, I'd likely with throw Brunswick or possibly Ebonite.  I've always been a long time fan of the Zone series, and I like the Fury series as well.  The same could be said about the NV series.

I've found great matchups with Hammer equipment. Although, I'm not partisan when it comes to recommending equipment, I do have a comfort level with Hammer.

I've thrown equipment from several companies (Brunswick, Ebonite, Track, Morich, Rotogrip, Storm) and just found I tended to get my best results from Storm and Rotogrip.  I've shot great scores with other equipment (still have a Total NV and Awesome Revs in my basement that have gotten me 300 games in the past year or so), but I've gotten the best consistency and predictability out of the Storm family of equipment in the past few years.  (Dimension, Gravity Shift, Spit Fire are by far my three most commonly-used balls, and the Cell comes out any time I'm going to a tournament)  It's not that I won't throw a ball by another company, I just by default go with Storm usually because I am very familiar with the characteristics of those balls and know best how to make them work for my game.

I dont stick to one company all together but I do for the most part just take one brand with me.

for me its visionary as they believe in filling gaps to make a complete set of ball reactions to cover all conditions plus I have never had a dud from them. every single ball has been amazing.

the only two companies I stay away from now a days is big b and ebonite. one day they are just amazing and another they are duds. too condion specific for big b IMO. and ebonite is iffy ONLY because they tend to experiment too much for my tastes... top of the line stuff just feels like im getting a test ball/ball of the month.

I agree with Dan above, I love the way my Storm stuff seems to roll for me everytime out of the bag. I have also found that I can get better "gap" coverage when staying with the same company. I own stuff from other company's then Storm, but it just seems to me that when I try to go from Storm ball A to Brunswick ball A there is not a smooth transition for me. Could just be me though.

I just find it is easier to navigate the reaction chart for a particular company. I have used many companies exclusively over the years. I equate it to acquiring a home entertainment system. If for example, I purchase a Sony television I will also purchase Sony surround sound, a Sony DVD player, etc. I personally "feel" better that way.

If you are not a staff member to a certain company why use the same company throughout.  Certain companies balls have better dynamics on certain ball motions and reactions that you want.  A little bit of each is the best best.

I seem to have very good success with Storm and Roto Grip stuff.  Just seems to work for me.  The Brunswick stuff that I've had hasn't worked that great for me with the exception of the Punisher.  I used to throw exclusively Columbia and it worked decently.

Since I tried Roto Grip I haven't looked back.  RG and Storm stuff along with some adjustments to my game have been helping me a lot, so I am kinda brand loyal.  Plus, I don't have the money to take a gamble on another company's balls and have it suck when I know that I match up with Storm/Roto Grip.

Me too, but my default company is Brunswick. Over 75% of my balls are from BigB because I match up well with them.

I've just bought my first non-Brunswick balls in 3/4 years (Cell and Break S75) because of the hype, I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed though.

I throw equipment from different companies. I like to experiment with different companies.

I'll list them: InSite, Banger, Columbia, MoRich, Brunswick, Hammer, 900 Global. I like using my 900 global Creature and InSite bowling balls the most though because they usually read the lanes the best for me.

Good equipment, customer service, and matching my game are my 3 reasons for staying with a company.

As you could tell from my profile I have owned (and thrown many more than that)several different companies, and every single company has had a true 'gem' for my game and some real duds for my game, but if I had to pick at least one family of equipment it would be the stuff poured in San Antonio, 900Global,Lane1, and AMF. All of the balls I have tried from these companies have been good for me and the only problem I have encountered with the tour ultra shoes was handled NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Besides I am a 5th generation Texan and I think I will stay with the home team 'so to speak'.

I mainly throw Lane #1.  That being said i have tried/ do throw other stuff (used to have a Ebo black ice and currently have a Playmaker and a Blue Dot)

i think its mainly because i got the solid uranium as my first high performance ball, and had so much good luck with it, and when nothing else works i can make it work.
but thats just me.

I have tended to rotate amongst brands, but here recently have been sticking with the Ebonite umbrella Total NV, Noize, and now the Sauce.  But also have Brunswick and a RG Epic Battle.  It is all about matching up with the product.

i used to go primarly with storm then i decided to give a few other companies a try i found some stuff i really like and disliked when i decided to go back to storm it just seems like there newer stuff doesnt match up with the direction  i want my game to go so with a little more experimenting i settled on hammer having had success with some of the newer stuff i decided to try them and every ball i have from them right now fits my game and gives me alot of options to try depending on the lanes. my opinion is most companies build the products in the arsenal mindset (i said most) now my opinion is that by going with this mindset can be good or bad i really pic the stuff that has a weight block ,diff. and rg. along with the cover that would fit my game the best
