Tolerance ....
« on: November 22, 2003, 09:00:37 PM »
I may have outlived any use I thought I might be able to offer other bowlers, here at ballreviews.com. The reason I say this is because I just looked at the bowlers I have placed on my Ignored List, many of them just recently. I seem to have grown intolerant of nastiness, stupidity and people unwilling to admit they don't know everything about everything. I know I have much more to learn about all facets of bowling, but I have learned a little bit and thought I could offer an opinion and a fact or two here and there.

Maybe I am reading and posting too early in the morning, when my politeness and societal filters are not yet up and too late at night when my filters have dropped. I don't know.

I find myself almost losing my temper when reading many posts and replies lately. I don't know if anyone else does this or feels this way. There are many people here with whom I enjoy exchanging ideas, lending what info I can, and  learning what facts I can. But recently there are so many more whom I just don't understand what they are saying and there are some, whom I do not understand why they are saying what they say. I often ask but get no meaningful reply or one that makes any sense to me. I don't think I am a stupid person, so I wonder what is going on here at ballreviews.

I have felt like this for about 2 months now; I don't recall what started it, but I keep coming back, more to look for good post by good people, newbies or old. The percentage of these seems to have been reduced, shrunken by quite a bit now.

(Maybe this should have been in Miscellaneous Non-Bowling, but it seems bowling indformation related.)

I think that there has been an influx of new users here whose only objective seems to be to cause controversy or aggitate others.  In the past, it appeared to be a few of the regulars who assumed another ID to stir the pot a bit, but they did so with humor.  The recent spate of 'false' users seem to be more crude and mean (as what Michelle had to endure).

I dont use any Ignore list so I see it all but I am getting tired of it too.   Guess I am just getting too old for this kind of excrement.  I am hoping that it is just a passing fad and we can get back to the useful and informative posts that made this site.

I almost stuck some people on my ignore list, but that kinda takes away from the whole atmosphere.  I realize I'm not very high on many people's lists, but what would the site be like without some of the more prominent or dynamic members?  Get rid of Leftside, Bones, Dave, Ragnar, etc, what would you have?  I get the whole irritation thing, I'm probably easier to irritate than most people, and over smaller things, but keeping a reign on that irritation keeps you out of a whole lot of trouble.  Even when people deserve to be told off, sometimes just keeping your distance is the best until either the time is right to make a point to someone, or if the person or persons realize their flaws.  Some people are here just to cause trouble, some are here just for casual interest, and some are here solely for good debates or discussions.  I think more people fall somewhere in the middle, but your best option may be just to stick around Miscellaneous.  I'M even getting a little tired of what's been going on in Non-Bowling Related, what's that tell you?

Leftside,

I hope I am not on charlest's Ignore List .  But, as long as I can see and read his, that is all that matters to me.  His posts are very useful and informative and I would hate to miss reading them.

When people make replies to unanswered questions, when people just insult you without reason, then further replies serve no purpose.

With all due respect to everyone,....

This influx of new users AREN'T really new users !  Come on guys,...do you really thing people are THAT ignorant, and that persistent ?? Yes, people nowadays lack MUCH sense, sure, but jeeeeeeeeez !

It's current/old posters w/ new identities trying to stir things up....that's all it is.  Irritating? Hell yes,...the more you ingore the better.

Yes, some of it is kids being kids, but most of it is mentioned above,...at least that's my .02

I have eliminated the 4 or 5 that were on my Ignore list in an attempt not "to be weak".

Jeff, I DID create a new user name, but this one is in the interest of the more serious topics in Miscellaneous that most people might blow off if they see Hamster as the author of the post.  I feel I do have quite a bit of knowledge and relevant information to contribute, but it's overshadowed by my less than serious current persona.

I'm still prone to moments of insanity in Non-Bowling, but that's where it'll be reserved to.
