Tolerance in span length

Do you expect all your equipment to be exact cut to cut or can your game tolerate some deviation .... say 1/16 to 1/8 inch?

From doing the work myself and also having a damn good PSO locally, I do not tolerate differences, whether you can feel it or not, I pay good money and expect it to be right. My PSO scribes my equipment often (my request) so there's no hiding hitting the lines dead on or not.

When I was drilling for a living, if I missed by an 1/8, I'd wonder if I was drinking heavily while drilling. A 1/16 is a little different, and 1/32... Meh, but I always tried to hit my lines dead on.

Depends on the bowler and the miss. Ive had some say if you miss,  make it long. Or short.  I center punch my lines so as long as the lines are correct,  the span is correct

1/8 is a lot and I would want the hole plugged and re drilled.  1/16 or 1/32, use some tape and if it continues maybe seek another PSO.

In my opinion a 1/16 is a lot. It should either be on or 1/64 if the PSO is paying attention and know what they are doing.

I could stand having a span a little short but long would be unacceptable.

We drilled for a guy who was tour and won a major. He could feel 1/64.

I’m the same way. I have a very sensitive hand, feel. I can feel 1/64th. I’ve had a few balls that felt off over the years, and I shy away from using them. I just don’t repeat shots as well, then it also becomes a mental thing. I think that finger grips can vary slightly, even though they’re marked for same sizeing. If the grips sizes are off or compression of the grips going in hole are big, small, that could change span, feel slightly. At least it does for my sensitive feel. I have friends that can pick up another persons ball, totally different specs than their own equipment and throw it with no problem. Geuss it depends on the individual.

i am more on whether or not the thumb feels good, especially on used stuff. that being said i do want my span to feel good too.
