RICO Drilling - What Balls do You Use?
« on: June 05, 2010, 02:16:38 PM »
Alright, this is a really vague question, and I apologize for that :'(  I understand that RICO layouts are completely different for every bowler, so I'm just looking for past experiences basically.  What balls work well for you that have a RICO layout?

My stats for those interested parties:  ~275 RPMs, axis is 4 3/16 > by 3/8^, I'm told I have a pretty high tilt, adn I usually average around 15.5-16 MPH at the pin deck.

Thanks in advance!

 Really Ric, REALLY?

Now you're just asking for it. Better watch it with those "funny" remarks man.

Flash Force and Strike Zone have been my 2 choices and I've liked them both. I've drilled 3 Flash Forces Rico. With my rev rate, its worked out very well.

Ric's being funny but he's right.  Rico just changes the dynamics of the core, just like putting the pin up or a pin axis does.

You can do it to any ball...it will just make it more controlled off the spot and rev up faster.  The ball itself is irrelevant.

I have a Break Pearl and I have drill a couple Ultra Zones for a couple guys. All three balls worked well. I did move the pin 1" above the bowlers center of grip in on all three balls, so are a modified version.

Used on many different bowling balls with great reactions on all of them.

Rev Zest (punisher)
Rev Real Speed Pro (inferno)
Power Groove
Ultimate Inferno
Wild Thing
Awesome Revs

For me it works best for the bowling ball to have some shine. Bowling balls I've tried it on that were dull out of the box rolled okay, but did much better for me once I added a little polish.

A. I know
B. Someone to make a crude remark.
C. For people asking for a definition of "funny".

And to the OP, sorry for the hi-jack. Pretty much any ball would work, as long as the specs allowed the movement of the CG without moving so much weight to the side that you can't get it back to "legal".
