Title: top weight question
Post by: the-7-year-itch on February 18, 2004, 05:09:09 AM
I'm getting a ball with a 4.5oz top. What are the advantages/disadjantages of a high top ball?

I just drilled a Buzzsaw (Golden Nugget) with 4.5 oz of top.  I drilled it 4 3/8 by 3 3/8 and it required a sizable weight hole.  I know it was over a 1" hole about 2 1/2" deep.  I would try to find tops around 2 to 3 oz.  There is more flexability in those top weights.

You might get a little more length from a ball with 4ozs+ of starting top weight vs. a ball with 2-3ozs of starting top weight.

Higher top weights usually give you more length and more backend. =:^D

Yeah more top weight will give you more length,
but it will also limit your drilling options unless you
want a whole that's bigger than your thumb whole in the ball.
