This may have been a topic brought up before but I haven't seen on recently so I'll start a new post on the topic. I understand every serious bowler should carry at least one ball with this layout. My question, is there any particular type of ball, solid, pearl, hybrid, sym or asym, that a Rico drill would work best on? I'm a low rev, average to slow speed lefty with medium axis tilt.

I'm getting ready to bowl my summer PBA experience league and I'm thinking of drilling up a ball Rico to help me not squirt past the breakpoint on the longer patterns.

Depends on your style and what you are looking to use it on...versatile covers with medium to upper diffs give you more flexibility with adjusting it.

I put a Rico drill on a Virtual Gravity and loved it! Strong ball became a benchmark ball for me on medium heavy stuff. Gave me great control of the break point. I am rev dominant; throw abot 16 mph.

I put a Rico drill on an Inferno and essentially killed the ball! It acted like a wet noodle. It kind of depends on your style, and the covers as well. Doesn't hurt to experiment though.

Personally, the longer the pin, the better, IMO. The hole is going to go 6-3/4 inches from the pin through the cg anyways, and in my experience, the bigger and deeper the hole, the better.

I would do the HyRoad before the Lights Out, due to the lower diff.

Thanks for all the insight everyone! I may try to Rico the new Storm Lights Out or a Hy-Road since hybrids seem to work well for me. I have an undrilled 900 Global Freight Train in storage that I may try to Rico but it has a 4.5-5" pin out so it may be a little difficult on that ball. We'll see how it goes!

I was thinking the same in the Lights Out. I liked the layout in another med diff'ed cored storm ball and wanted to try it something more current since it's summer and center are going to be forgetting how to oil and much to put down. It's already started where some of the houses I bowl in are tremendously dryer than they had been even 2 weeks ago.

I felt dumb because I didnt know wth was being discussed...
