More accurate spare shot than first
« on: April 26, 2007, 09:40:09 AM »
Invariably, I have foung that my spare shot is more accurate in hitting my mark, and target than my first shot. Has anyone else experienced this. I bowl with a plastic ball for my single pin spares, regardless to where they are on the lane. Same swing, same approach, just rolling straight at whatever the mark is to pick the spare up.

Your spares are just as important, if not, MUCH more important than your strikes.  No doubt about it.

I believe that I am the opposite!

AS the majority of the time...I get in a groove standing VIRTUALLY the same spot for strike shots gets me in a groove.  Versus throwing from the different angles that spares require gets me "out" of my groove.

In other words for me... The more I strike, the more I strike going forward AND...the more tiny refinements I can make in adjusting for slow pin fall!

I see many trying to put so many revs on there strike ball they are jerking themselves all over the lane. On the spare ball they just try to roll it over there spot.

I agree with Joe.  It could be your strike ball release is what's causing you to be less accurate, unless you're releasing both the same way.

the pin is 3 boards wide, your ball is 8, now you can calculate your area theoretically...
