Whats in a rosin bag?
« on: October 18, 2004, 02:47:21 PM »
Hey there, my wife is wanting to try making some rosin bags to sell at the local house. My question is what is exactly in them and where can I purchase it. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I may be wrong. I think it's "colodium Flexible" (sp).
Dissolve it in ether or suchlike and you have liquid plaster.
It's the same stuff that weight lifters, acrobats, and others put on their hands for a non-slip grip.

There is a difference between a rosin bag and one of those hand drier bags.  I believe rosin is made from pine sap or pine tar or something of the like, and it produces a tacky effect on the skin, enhancing grip.

Those hand drier bags are just kitty litter or the equivalent, and they absorb moisture.  They help remove moisture if your hands sweat, but they don't add tackiness like a rosin bag.
