Guys I am now the Assistant Manager at Timber Lanes in Clayton, Ohio. I am wanting to run some handicap and scratch tournaments for the next season but I want other bowlers opinions on like what would be a great tournmanet to run and get the most people out here to bowl. What do you guys like in a tournament. Format, Prize Fund, Entry fee everything

A house by us runs a little mini tour on friday nights once a month.

Different formats for each tournament.

Blind doubles.

Handicap trios.

Handicap doubles.

Keeps the cost low.

No brackets.

Mainly tries to generate bar business.

Scratch tournament.  Friday evening, Saturday afternoon or Saturday evening.  3 game qualifier and then match play to determine the winner.

Years ago, I used to run something similar at Sunnybrook, except that we guaranteed at least a $500 payout no matter how little the turnout was, with the winner getting a minimum of $225.....with some weeks as high as $500. Entry fee was $25.

Would love to do something this again someday, I enjoy running it even though my two partners were two royal idiots that ran the thing into the ground (you don't handicap from 70% from 200, among other things) six months after I left in disgust. Which is too bad because Randy Shank did everything to get at least get us going.
