Anybody find this odd?
« on: December 15, 2003, 07:48:25 AM »
I've just gotta shake my head when I go through my league games the last couple weeks.  Everything finally came together about three weeks ago, and it started with an 8 game sweeper the day after Thanksgiving.  Surprised the living daylights out of me, I averaged 229.3 and finished 3rd among some of the biggest dogs in my area.  I bowl scratch leagues on Tuesday and Wednesday late, and both my averages were at 204 (incredibly frustrating coming off a promising season last year, however, it's due to multiple hand and wrist problems and a lot of changes).  The next two weeks at league went:

Tuesday: 257-257-237-751
Wednesday: 225-225-268-718
Tuesday: 137-236-246-619
Wednesday: 258-233-192-683

Sooo, lol, my games, listed all in a row were: 257-257-237-225-225-268-137-236-246-258-233-192.  See anything odd in there?  The story of the 137 is strike, 10 pin, whiff.  Strike, 10 pin, whiff.  Strike, 10 pin, whiff.  Bucket, spare, big four, 10 pin, whiff.  Thumbholes were craters that night, I was gripping the ball, and every time I left a 10, my spare attempt was nowhere CLOSE.  The 192 at the end was the result of leaving 5 10 pins, and missing one.  I just never got anything going.  However, for my last 20 sanctioned games, even with the 137, and a couple 190 games (one in the tournament), I've averaged 230.25.  Might not be anything for some of you guys, and I still believe I can do better, but for as horribly as I've been bowling up to this point, that's REALLY something.  Tooting my own horn here, but I also meant to start a post for others to toot their own horns as well.  Been in a slump and broken out of it?  Speak up!  In a current slump and need encouragement or reassurance that you'll eventually break out of it?  Read and enjoy!

I'm scoring sort of like you, and your pretty much the person for me to ask about your transition from youth to adult leagues, i just read your post about them.

I've gone 699, 699, 706,629, 692.

i don't remember my individual games, but my spare game has probably been A1 as of late. but when i went back to back 699s i took 1 of 8 individual points, and the players shot well against me. they just got the break when i maybe didn't. 750 and 730 against those 699s aren't bad, so i didn't feel crushed when i lost.

if your wining in the pressure situations it's something to be happy about. i'm shooting well but not winnning. the average climbs but the win percentage lowers. it's sort of a toss up.

Almost a month ago, in my Thursday night league, I went:

655, 497, 759, 717

In between the 497 and the 759, I shot my first 300 in my wednesday night league.

Definitely quite an up and down month.
