TRACKING CLOSER TO THE THUMB...
« on: April 27, 2010, 04:55:10 AM »
Ive noticed here lately that my ball tracks closer to the thumbhole, about 1 inch from the thumbhole and about 2" to the left of the fingerholes. Im wondering if this is common now days, or do i need to work on raising my track? My pap is 5 over and 1/2 down, and im right handed.

Also, in general will this type of track affect my carry on certain conditions, and will it affect the way i need to drill my equipment??

If the lane condition is too dry, the carry will be too weak due to too much energy is uesed

If your track is closer to your thumbhole than your fingerholes, your PAP's vertical coordinates should be up, not down. You may want to remeasure that.

There's nothing wrong with having your track closer to the thumb than fingers. The vast majority of bowlers with a semi-roller release are that way.

Which could explain why i struggle on lower volume house shots, and average better on heavier volume tournament shots?

Dan you are most likely right, i will remeasure tonight. Is this type of ball track competitive on todays conditions, or should i look into changing it?

Both Abe and Dan are right.  FYI, I'm 5 3/4 over and 3/4 up.  Our equipment is getting into extreme fwd roll and burning up alot of energy.  I had a friend of mine suggest that I tuck the pinky(which I used to do last year) and I'm getting the ball to go much longer down the lane and storing more energy for the backend that I expect.  Just an idea.

Basically im just trying to find out as much info on my game as i can. Its been along time since ive gotten a rev rate count, pap cordinates, ball speed etc.

So really im just trying to freshen up on my info so i can update drillings and surfaces before i start doing tournaments this summer. Being informed cant hurt ya know?
