transition suggestions
« on: October 29, 2009, 07:08:45 AM »
haveing  trouble during oil transition (game 2).  My game 2 ave is 20 pins lower than 1 & 3.

This game is loaded with splits 4,7,6 / 4,7,10 / 8,10 / 7,10 / 2,8. using a VE drilled pin down and is the same ball as game 1 & 3.

As to the drilling, i'm not sure of the drilling but my pap is 4 3/4 over up 7/16. ball speed 16-17. med revs, tilt <10 deg, axis rotation in the 45 deg area.

That would explaine why the pin up toxic does nothing (unless i drop speed to around 15).

Guess i''ll try the Hex-plosion or but the Rising back in the bag(it was more of a med/med dry ball for me).

I hate to say this but i want my old swamp monster back. Guess i need to try and blackmail my sister for it.....LOL

I think it is also common for bowlers to get a bit fast that second game.  They get loose and into rhythm the first game, then just get too fast/anxious whatever you want to call it. Start turning the ball early, tugging the ball, ball keeps going high or starts getting a bit wild, not hitting your target or not coming out of it the same every time.   And then after the second game reality check, you settle down to focus that third game.

This is not negating what Deadbait says, but its in addition to.....

I am not sure if you are leaving those splits left handed or right handed, but either way, it looks like you aren't anticipating the move soon enough.  One thing I always talk about with my bowlers in any environment is the sooner you make a necessary change, the better.  This is obvious, but in league bowling, you should have a good idea of what the shot will start out as and what it will end as.  You say games 1 and 3 are good, but not game 2, so just anticipate the progression to your game 3 line earlier and try to stay ahead of the carry down issue.
