Has anyone moved a full size drill press across country?  To move it locally, I used a heavy trailer and a safe dolly.  Anyone had luck with any thing else?

I would use a covered trailer for cross country to keep it out of the elements.

Yea, but how do you pick the bitch up.  Weighs about 700 pounds.

trailer with a ramp will make this exponentially easier as well.

Contact one of the LTL(Yellow, Roadway, Old Dominion etc) companies, it will probably cost less for you to have them do it than to do it yourself.

This would be the easiest way to do it.  Just make sure you tell them they need a trailer with a drop gate on it or you will need a forklift at both ends of the move.

Use a pallet and 2x4's to secure it to the pallet with screws also use metal or plastic strapping then bubble wrap and shrink wrap it the other way is to do all that I said but put it In a crate which can double as a pallet also use do not double stack stickers and cones when using LTL they pack trailers high and tight.

Cherry picker and plenty of straps worked for me.

+1....I have an Innovative vacu-jig and have moved mine twice. That is exactly how I got mine in position after getting it off the pallet it was on. Just take your time and work methodically.

By cherry picker, do you mean and engine puller/lift?
