Trick shot bowling
« on: December 28, 2003, 08:21:52 AM »
I was thinking while I bowled tonight. They have trick shot billards.. Why not trick shot bowling??? I think this would get a lot of coverage. One of my freinds(a mechanic at the bowling alley, all of them do this once in a while, do nothing but trick shots.)

He did one tonight where he puts up the 7-10. He moves the 7 slightly over to the left so some of it is hanging off. He places a ball right beside the 7, and throws a ball in the left channel, the ball clips the 7, and hits the ball over to get the 10.

I think PBA or someone should start this up. I once saw Amleteo M(cant spell it) do trick shots with another pba bowler(forgot who)one day during a pro am.

Imagine a trick shot tourney.. Would you enjoy that??

(PS: For those curious on what i bowled, i actually got my average tonight: 228 209 181 206)

If you're talking way back in the 80s or early 90s, i believe it was amleto and mark roth. Andy verapapa's (sp?) trick shots were used in the tv ad for the amf cobra. Also have seen bob learn and parker bohn on a tv show do some trick shots, but i agree with you, i'd watch.

Andy V was the best, and put on quite a show. Only wish I knew of where I could get a video tape of his act, which included throwing 2 balls at once, knocking a pin from one lane into the adjoining lane to convert a spare, etc., etc.

Have seen Brian Voss do some trick shots a few years ago in Latham during a practice session. He took two balls and took out the seven -ten. Throwing a hook on both balls. He also was throwing 3 and 4 balls at a time. It was really fun to watch. Have also seen doug Kent and PBIII put a chair down at about 40ft then seat a spectator in it then proceed to throw between the legs of the chair at full speed. Needless to say the spectator was a little on the hesitant side as the balls were coming at them.
