Well, the last spot I have in my arsenal is my stereotypical go-long/angular move THS/short sport pattern ball. Currently I use a Rhino Pro Gold, but I've found that as I've become better, my ball speed has increased and it's just getting to be touchy (i.e. weak 10's). So I figured I'll replace it with the Power Groove (ice blue) that I've had for a while. I know the PG will be fine for house shots, but I worry about it on something like Cheetah (Yes, I'm that guy playing right up the outside with a weak ball) because I've had it for years. So I thought about a tropical storm instead.
I've really never seen these that much (well, thrown by anyone other than young kids), but I basically heard that they are similar if not slightly stronger than the Power Groove, i.e. a low-end ball that can hand mediums (with fresh backends obviously) given that you have enough hand. Oh, as for my style, I'm currently working some things out, but when I'm done I'll likely be 16-17mph at the deck with 375rpm and varying axis rotation. PAP has typically been 5 3/8" over and 3/4" down (I say typically, because it may change if I modify my release enough). Anyone who has done a comparison between the two lines would be of great help, as I really don't feel like shelling out 120 bucks if the ball won't be any stronger than a power groove I've had for a while.
Thanks. And yes, I know it's a strange strategy for handling patterns like Cheetah, but what can I say, it's worked for me since historically always been hook dominant.

Fair warning, the Tropical Storm is a lot stronger than people think. It's also got a decidedly skid/snap reaction characteristic. The Reactor coverstock can handle more oil than you'd think.

I agree 100%. I wanted something for drier lanes, but I didn't really see it with the Tropical. I took it to 4000 grit with polish, and then I saw what I wanted to see.

Are you fixed ont he TS or the PGP?
If not, you might want to consider the Neptune and the Hornet. They'll handle more dry than either of the other two and still, with your rev rate, have a ton of backend. I can guarrantee that on the Hornet and I've seen it on the Neptune. Both handle a ton of dry both will make a fraking left turn if drilled for you.
