I thought that I had made my choice on which ball(s) to purchase but now I'm not sure.
I like to bowl the track area. I can play to left of the center arrow but it's not my comfort zone. My ball speed is somewhere between 13.5 and 14.5. Medium revs and medium track. I have a Complete NV and C300 Resurgence drilled to go long and a Total NV with pin down.
I'm looking for a ball to use when my complete nv is too much ball outside of the 11 board -or- there's a short oil pattern. Would also be looking for a ball to replace my Complete NV. I've tried some Lane#1 equipment but I don't feel the balls are a fit.
How do these bowling balls compare ?
Motivs -- Recon RX1 Silver, Thrash, QZ2 Backdraft, QZ2, Raptor
Columbia 300 -- Freeze, U2, Violent Eruption
Roto Grip -- Shout
All input is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
John C.

RG... Try the Shout, it's the best of your choices, without a doubt...

I have a little more speed and like to play the same area of the lane you do . I Bowl with a lot of senior bowlers that play the track all the time. When my first out of the bag bag is too much 2 games in I reach for my Motiv Silver Recon square up go right down 10 and kill the pocket so for me get a Motiv Silver Recon now before it is no longer available.

Unfortunately, when you go to a drier lanes ball, a lot depends, not only on your rev rate and ball speed, but also exactly how dry it is on the outside to begin with and how much drier it got, AS WELL AS where the dry actually is.
The U2 is a solid urethane. It starts up pretty early and with your ball speed, if there's serious dry, you're going to have to swing that ball, possibly more than you like.
The RX-1 Silver is so mild as to be almost considered as having a ball reaction similar to that of a pearl urethane. I'd bet you could use that but who knows how far right you might have to start that ball. It might actually be to weak BUT is a tremendous ball to have in an arsenal.
The Shout is a solid mild resin that will hook more than the RX-1 (The Scream is its pearlized twin and might have too much backend, given your ball speed.) . The Shout is possibly a very good choice in this position.
The Freeze: a great line of balls for medium-light to medium oil. Now there's 3 different versions of it: the original pearl, a solid and a hybrid. the solid might be a good alternative to the Shout, but it has more flare and probably more backend, but I have not compared them. So it's hard to make that judgement. Given the flare of the Freeze line, I'd have to stick with the Shout.
The Violent Eruption is probably stronger than any other ball you own, other than the Resurgence. So when you want to replace the Complete NV, consider that ball. :D
Same with the Raptor, too strong for what you are considering here.
For drying lanes, the others, Thrash, and the QZ series are much too strong for down and in, given your ball speed. If you sanded the Thrash to 4000 grit and added polish, it might qualify but why go to those extreme when there are better choices.

I'd have to go with the Shout. It isn't as mild as the RX-1 Silver but should work well for you based on your rev rate/speed. Also, you probably would not have to do much if anything to the surface while still having versatility to throw different angles/lines.
Although it doesn't use the original Neutron Core, the Shout uses a version with it, just having different RG/Differential numbers with a different flip disc at the bottom. However, I can say that the original Neutron Core is great with retaining energy and produces excellent carry power. I have no doubts that the version in the Shout should perform just as well.

Get the Violent Eruption, everything else is window dressing.
