Sincerely Need Opinion
« on: April 07, 2008, 09:02:23 AM »
I know many aren't to willing to comment on a "arsenal" but i would just like some quick feedback on the new arsenal i will be purchasing on Thursday. I truly need some outsider opinions.

- Cell
- Gravity Sift
- Doom (Already have it)
- Tropical Storm

What do you think of this lineup, will it cover many patterns and league shots? Also, do you think i have too many pearls in the lineup? If yo had to sub something somewhere, what would it be? Thanks for a response!

Personally, I'd skip the Tropical Storm.  It's a good piece for a fairly new bowler or someone who wants one ball for a THS, but stronger than the dry lane ball you might be looking for.  I'd get something like a Visionary B/G Centaur for light oil, a Lane#1 XXXL for dry lanes + spares, or something like a Brunswick Sidewinder for between the Doom and Gravity Shift as sort of a benchmark ball.

The cell is a great choice. However look into the black widow line up. There great equipment for the price.

3M,
My suggestion to you is to have a pro shop operator watch you bowl. They will give you suggestions based on the way you throw the ball. All of the balls that have been mentioned here are great balls and would do well in most bowlers arsenal, but you may be purchasing a ball that does not match up with your style of play.
Good luck and bowl well!

3M.......I think you need to add at least 5 more "balls" to your arsensal.   A couple of Nitty Gitty balls for when you can't "hook" it.  At least a couple more of the "do it all" balls that all the companies sell.    Then maybe another "hook in a box" ball sanded with 120 grit sandpaper.     NOT!!!!!

Spend some of your money on a good coach and lessons on how to bowl.   Then "arsenal" BS  will be the least of your worries.

Ok old man thanks for the input(not) but i think i know how to bowl. Isn't it bingo hour at the retirement home, or wait, did you soil your depend's? The latter must be the cause of his bitterness.

In any event, those who understand my question and don't want to make it a "i hate what bowling has become" story, I'd appreciate everyones input.

Ignore him 3M, he's like that to everybody.

But to answer your question, I'd say that's a good arsenal. With some adjusting, you should be covered for most conditions. If you think you have too many pearls, you could try a weaker solid than the Cell like a Pluto, Saturn, Rapid Fire, Jolt Solid, etc. Good luck.

The Pluto would be a good compliment to the Cell. Also I would go with the Saturn or Neptune over the Tropical Storm. The large core in those two balls get a lot of power to the pins and has a very smooth reaction.
Always be sincere, even when you don't mean it.

I think, from what I've heard, that the cell and gravity may be too similar for my taste. I'd probably look at one or the other (I'd plump for the cell) and set it up for an early rolling arc-type reaction, then I'd go with something like a Complete NV or a special agent for a more angular look. I also think the tropical is too limited, and would rather go for something a little meatier, maybe a Jolt solid as suggested with a mild drilling to give you a little more versatility.
