Leisure Time Lanes experience in NYC
« on: February 26, 2005, 04:07:19 AM »
Well, I'm here on a Saturday afternoon, about 1/2 hour after my hour long bowling experience at Leisure Time Lanes at the Port Authority in New York City. I bowled for an hour at the hefty rate of $45 an hour, and since I only brought 2 balls with me (Hot Wire and Rule) and the Hot Wire hooked into the gutter at 35 feet, needless to say I didn't bowl a ton of game (5). My high was a 193, and I had to use more of a back up ball technique to pick up corner pin spares. I was able to throw 16 to 1 with my Hot Wire at about 22 mph, and my arm is killing me.

Thanks to FBM357 (Vernon) for the conversations while I was down here, too bad we couldn't have hooked up bowling-wise but there is always next time. I should be home during the day tomorrow, expect more posting as I haven't really had much internet access while down here in the city.

Matt

Hey Matt,

Sorry I couldn't make it.  Had to perform "husband" duties by driving the wife around shopping for baby furniture  Anyways, I really wanted to take you "outside" the City as I know the prices are too steep!!!  If I'd driven to pick you up, no telling what time you'd return.. LOL  Probably end up at some alley in Queens.  Perhaps it was a good thing, as your wife would've thrown your equipment down the elevator shaft and my wife ... well perish the thought... LMAO

I'm sure we'll throw a few the next time either of us is available.  Hope you and yours enjoyed yourselves!

Well, we made it back to Fitchburg, MA this afternoon- a quick 3 hour ride home...

I did have an enjoyable time, but had I known that Leisure doesn't believe in oiling their lanes, I would have brought the Barrage and plastic and still had plenty of hook. I guess it forced me to work on aspects of my game when there isn't any oil left in long tournaments....which can come in handy from time to time.

Yes I would have loved to meet some of you guys, but there's always summer time and maybe I'll be able to plan a little better...
