TV format
« on: February 17, 2013, 03:44:25 PM »
I've been watching bowling on TV since forever but this team format is the worst. If they want to do the team thing, bowl a complete game like league play. Have match points as well as team points. This format is like a celebrity charity event or something. It's unwatchable IMO.

I disagree. I like the Baker-style format.

I also disagree. I like it much better than the 4 man crap that's been on the past few years. At least you can see multiple bowlers each week instead of the same 2 or 3 guys. I was so sick of Belmo and Rash last year that I stopped watching it.

I understand why they use the Baker format.  Time.  If they showed all ten bowlers bowling complete games, they would not be able to show more than a one-game match unless they edited out frames which many of us do not care for.  So, the Baker format allows them to show multiple games within their time frame.  Plus, the Baker format is used in college, so it does have a history to it as far as team competitions go.

I think an 8 man bracket format (match play) would be nice. You could easily cover 2 games at the same time until the championship.

The team thing is good. But hyping it with team owners etc.kind of ruins it for me. The pba is struggling and it is showing. The exempt field got rid of a lot of bowlers.  In my.opinion they are.trying.too many different things to quick. Do they still even do pro ams?  I'd like to see it go back to stepladder finals with some special events mixed in.  In the direction its going it will soon get as much air time as the WPBA

I am not a big fan of this format even though I do like to see different bowlers (it's nice seeing Mike Scroggins on TV again). I at least applaud the PBA though for trying something different. Obviously the way it's trending the PBA is losing viewers and sponsorship so it needs to do something or it may not even be around in a couple of years.

I like this format since it is something different than we've seen for years.  Plus it allows everyone to see team bowling which is not on as often.  And, we get to see some people that we haven't seen in a long time, if ever (Scroggins, Carcillo, Sczerbinski, Buss, Sterner, even Haugen) instead of the usual exempt field.

Finally, at least the entire season is not in Vegas this year.  It's nice to see Thunderbowl get some love again.

BTW, I think that Sterner and Sczerbinski have been very impressive for being their first season making the shows.

Most people instantly assume that team bowling is just individual, and I like that this shows the true style of college/high school bowling.

I don't think that people understand that this is more pressure bowling, though, since you have two shots a game.

It would be better if we got to see more of the qualifying, though.

Next year it needs to be expanded, and include more names off the Regional list. I know a lot of guys that would be up for doing something like this in the South region.

Seismic Evo Hybrid
Seismic Evo Pearl
Seismic LynX
Seismic Axion
