If you wanted to play the first arrow wouldn't a light oil ball or urethane ball work best? I'm asking because my coach has me playing the first arrow because it will make it more obvious when I make a mistake and he says none of the kids these days are confident enough to play it he also has suggested a 13 pound ball to help with my form so I'm thinking kill two birds with one stone.

How about I tell you what he has taught or suggested to me then you tell me if he's some crazy guy or not? First thing he did was quicken my steps telling me today its all about speed and that I need to get it to 16 mph for good carry. Then he makes me re learn how to spin it changing my track and lowering my revs and for about 2 and a half weeks I didn't score over 130 or so trying to re learn spinning it . Then tells me I have to learn to loft the ball down the lane. Oh and within all this my arm some how went from straight to having my elbow bending at about a 45 degree angle still have a little bend in it he tells me not to worry about it right now. Then he tells me I should practice throwing it first arrow I tell him I wanto throw a good hook ball not throw it straight he tells me when I'm ready he will show me how to throw a big hook Then he suggests getting a 13 pound ball (usually throw 15) to work on my form with and that's about it oh and just to boost my ego before I got a coach I averaged 169 and got a 300 .
