Hey everyone.  One of our local houses just upgraded to new Twister pins.  The house is an older one with wooden lanes.  Even with the old, beat up, and dead wooden pins, carry was exceptional.  About four weeks ago, all the pins in the entire house were replaced with brand new Twisters.  These are supposed to be more lively and have increased carry.  I have found it to be 180 derees from the truth.  I have never seen worse carry anywhere.  In the four weeks they have been in play, I have lost 20 pins in average.  Over that period have have averaged 15 to 20 stone nine counts per set.  Its been a little hard to swallow!  I have attempted just about every line to the pins that the lane conditions have allowed without much success (outside of 5 to as far deep as 20 or so).  Best success seems to be playing the track area... although this burns up by the end of the first game (unless you are lefty).  

Has anyone had success with these?  Where did you find the best line/carry to occur?  Any suggestions?

Yeah... seems to be agreed...  hit them just light enough to scatter and rely on the pin action to carry the others...  Scores are probably going to be lower, take it in stride...  I guess worrying about them make you too "outcome-based".  Instead I'll have to look at it as a good opportunity to practice spares.  Consider it practice for nationals... and who knows, if my carry continues to be terrible, I may actually get some handicap at tournaments

twister pins are garbage. when i bowled on them in reno, i could not believe the amount of 4-9's, 8 and 10 pins i saw.

A couple of guys were in the locker room after bowling team event in Reno. They were wondering what the new Twister pins would be like to bowl with. One of their team mates informed them that they had just bowled with them. Of course they did not want to believe it because they could not tell the difference.

I would guess that 99% of today's bowlers would never know if some one does not informed them!

I would echo what others have said about the Twisters and the last trip to Reno. The one thing that stands out in my mind about those 9 games is every time I had a solid pocket hit I left a 9 pin or some split combination involving the 9. High flush was a 4-9 almost every time. Tried different angles, but made no difference. I am hoping with the different equipment and knowledge of playing deeper angles that I will have better results next June.
