Twister Pins ????

I keep reading about Twister pins at Reno.  How are Twister pins different than non-Twister pins?

Bowled Twisters in the last ABC National's in Reno.

Very lifely pin action but somehow leaves some standing. My team calls them "blind messengers".

Rewards good shots though.

Best bet with twisters, is to hit them light.  You carry more lighter hits then you do when you pack the pocket.  If you hit high, you leave a high percentage of 4's and 9's.  I have bowled on them for three years now.  I hope you do well, and remember the lighter the better.

Been bowling on Twisters the last three years in my home house (Laurel Lanes, Washington, IN).  Our experience is the lighter hits carry better, very lively, power players can definitely generate messengers.  BUT...high flush will leave you a LOT of 9 pins.  Very easy to snap the ten out on half pocket hits though.

But why do they react different?  Different material, Center of Gravity, what?  If everyone notices a difference in reaction there has to be someone out there that knows the physics behind it.

If I remember correctly, Twisters are made entirely of plastic, rather than plastic coated wood. The company claims they last up to twice as long as regular plastic coated pins; they also cost a lot more than regular pins.

drillbit is correct. All plastic. Made in Germany (I'm not sure) Last 2 to 3 times longer than normal pins and was very expensive. Now I hear is only slightly more expensive. Seems there's a Canadian manufacturer too, Centres in Vancouver BC are changing to them.
