Ebay Fee's:
« on: July 08, 2009, 12:02:06 PM »
On the following page...
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fvf.html

Scroll down half a page until you see the pale yellow box with a little chart titled: "Example of a Final Value Fee calculation for an auction listing". They say if you sell an item for $60.00... for the first $25.00 you pay 8.75% Final Value Fee, and for the remaining $35.00 you pay 3.50% Final Value Fee. But EBAY doesn't charge me like that, they charge me a straight 8.75 Final Value Fee for the FULL $60.00 amount.

So in other words, if you sell something for $60.00, Ebay charges you:
 - For the first $25.00 you pay 8.75%, which is $2.19
 - For the remaining $35.00 you pay 3.50%, which is $1.23
 - So for this item the Final Value Fee is $3.42 ($2.19 + $1.23)

So by looking at that, Ebay is saying that if you sell an item for $60.00, that your Final Value Fee after the item has sold should be $3.42 ... but I just sold an item for $60.00 and they charged me $5.25

And I missing something or just don't understand this right?

Thanks!

what about your insertion fees

was it a "buy it now"
was it a "or best offer"
was it a fixed price auction?

those all add up differently

You seem like you may understand this better than I do, so maybe you can help me.

I started the No Reserve auction at $9.95... with a Buy It Now of $74.95
But a person bid on it and didn't use the Buy It Now of $74.95 and that made the Buy It Now option disapear the auction went on for 3 days and the item sold for $60.00.

My Insertion Fee was $3.40
My Final Value Fee was $5.25

Can you show me how the process works with the information I have provided?

Thanks!

ebay instituted a new [plicy where as your first 5 insertions in a 30 day period are free, BUT they charge you 8.75 on the whole thing

taken from their site

Your first five single-quantity auction-style listings to be listed on the site in a 30-day period have an Insertion Fee of $0.00 for eligible categories.* (See Insertion Fees for more information.) These $0.00 Insertion Fee listings also have a Final Value Fee per listing of 8.75% or $20, whichever is lower. Additional listings within the 30-day period and multi-quantity listings are subject to the following Insertion Fees and Final Value Fees

dont know if that helps you or not

That was one of the many reasons I closed my ebay store. The fees never added up as they listed them in tables. I could never get an answer to satisfy my questions so I just closed my store. Now I only sell from time to time and the fees usually take what little profits I had figured in.
