Question for those who are knowledgeable on the subject of Twister Plastic pins vs Standard wooden pins. I understand the twister pins are more expensive, but are worth is because they last longer. Are they that much more durable? I have also heard they are harder to knock down. What are the pros and cons? Not looking for argument, just really want to know the difference, so I can give an informed recommendation to our centers.

Here's an old thread with some talk. My center just put in new pins but I'm not sure if they went with the same kind or switched to Twister which they were talking about

I think there was another post within the past 6 months or so also. My main house put in Twisters at the beginning of the season. The new generation seems much better than the old Twisters. I really hated the ones from ~10 years ago. You're still going to leave a few more 4-9 combos that are just a bit high, but since they don't make that metallic "plink" when you hit them, I doubt too many people will even notice. Even wood pins when new are a little harder to knock down because the bottoms are still completely flat - many people psyche themselves out because they are aware of it. The same with the new Twisters - just bowl and don't worry about them.

Our center put them in about 3 years ago and across the leagues, averages dropped 10-20 pins. The first two years, they were very difficult to fall (bottoms stay flat longer?), a lot of sliding across the deck upright, not a lot of light mixers. I found better carry on my high hits. This year they are falling much easier, with a lot more liveliness and pin action, so averages are up. Most bowlers who know the difference between the Twisters and wood pins here seem to prefer wood only because of the previous few years' experience.
