Two handed bowling!

Ever since I saw that video a while back I've been wanting to give it a try. Even though I'd look and feel kinda stupid. Can get more ball speed and 20-30% more revolutions, would make a big difference. Mainly I'm interested in it for physical reasons, my right arm hurts like a bastard for a day or two after I bowl just a couple games. In the video they say two handed bowling takes more of a physical toll but i think it would take a lot of the weight off your bowling arm (don't know though). Would be difficult relearning to bowl in a whole different style. Anyone here bowl two handed or has anyone actually tried to learn how to do it in the past? Thanks!

For me, the transition from one handed to two was pretty easy for two reasons.  ONE:  I had already bowled competitive for 12 years so I still used the same footwork and just incorporated the two handed style.  SECOND:  I was 21-22 years old at the time and had alot of flexibility.  When I started the two handed style, it took me about a month or so to really get it down when I had some accuracy and learned where I need to stand and target to make spares consistently.  It just boils down to practice more than anything.  Most of the two handers I have seen have some sort of a hop or skip in their footwork whereas I dont.  I have a one handed strokers footwork (keep your mind on bowling LOL!).  The video I posted below is a video of me just last November.  Early in the video, I shoot at a ten pin one handed and you will see that the footwork on that shot really doesnt differ than when I throw the ball two handed.

As a one hander, I was usually 17-18mph at release and a 300 rev rate.  When I converted over, I was clocked at 21mph and a 540 rev rate.  18 years later, I am now 18mph at release and down to around 500 rev rate.  I still have most of my flexibility and so far, I have not had any major issues health wise from bowling like this.

As far as relearning the new style, it will be different for everyone.  For me, the switch was very natural as if I was born to use this style.  It depends on age and most of all, flexibility. Good luck to you and feel free to ask me anything!

dumb gimmick.

I suppose being left handed, or a low rev stroker, or a no-thumb bowler is a "dumb gimmick" lol. If you aint right handed, 20 mph, and 500 rpm,.... you cant bowl! Very close minded statement. Doesnt matter how you get it to the pins, what matters is the result.

Anyway, rope, what concerns me most is you say your arm has pain after 2 games. Might be something you want to get checked out. Bowling 2 handed might take some pressure off your arm, but it may not solve your problem. I suffered from tendinitis a while back and began to dabble into 2 handed bowling but without practice, form deteriorated and had to work on my timing all over again and by that time the pain and stiffness was gone. I ended up sticking with 1 hand. As with any form, practice is key. Get out try it see what happens. As far as the pain, what helped me was the ROBBY magnetic forearm band, $50 well spent. Hope that helps.

Thank you for the kind words.  It is something that came really natural to me and I had no coaching; considering it was a style hardly anybody had ever seen before (I started back in 1992 practicing with it and around 1994 full time).  It is a style that I dont want to see younger kids doing for two reasons.  ONE:  They simply dont have the ball speed yet until they hit their teens.  SECOND:  I believe that everyone should learn basic fundamentals first before trying it.  I do think that in some cases, they two handed style will come more naturally to people than the one handed.  But, I would still like to see bowlers learn the basics first.
