two hander needing ball
« on: February 14, 2010, 12:52:23 PM »
Ok. so im 17 and have been bowling three months. i like two handing it and dont wanna change. ive boosted my average from 120 to at least 195 every time. ok. so i throw a ebonite bash purple and green. and it has to be thrown from standing left foot left dot. at the back and cross third arrow to hit pocket. the shot i want is second arrow and alot of backend hook. i want the ball belmonte throws. 2nd arrow hard hook. any ideas on a ball? i use three fingers in my ball. 1st finger and the two normal ones. thanks Jake

Belmonte bowls on different conditions than you...he probably throws it harder...probably doesn't have as much side roll when he plays up second arrow.

You don't just move around the lane because of different balls...you change ball rolls.

see the thing is i throw it easily as hard as him but the ball i throw wont come back enough. it has many many rotations. if i slow my self down times 2 the ball hooks HARD!!! in the pocket but i want the hard throw.

You're not really making sense...so you want a ball that will let you throw it hard?  Belmonte changes speeds all of the time based on what he is bowling...I can assure you he doesn't make the same throw...with the same ball roll all the time.

sorry new to this. lol basically i want to get a ball that i can throw hard and push it over 2nd arrow and it come back like a bat out of hell and hit pocket. i know what my bash does so when conditions change i can revert to it. plus i have a spare ball that is two handed also. so i want a good 3 or four game oil ball that hooks really hard. i like the fast cause it hooks hard but idk if it will be as hard as i want. any better?

Hey Jake!  Let me first welcome you to BallReviews.  I''ll try my best to help you out.

So you''re looking to get a ball that you can throw from very left to very right with a strong hook in the back.  Before I start rattling off balls, I would suggest working with your local pro-shop operator.  S/he will be able to see how you bowl, and that will help narrow down your choices.  Also, what watching you bowl will do is determine your positive axis point (commonly abbreviated to PAP on this and other bowling websites).  This PAP is absolutely vital in bowling ball drilling.  Make SURE this is found out.  If your pro-shop operator doesn''t find this number out, I would highly suggest going to another pro-shop.

That being said, the balls I have seen with the most amount of backend reaction are these, noted in order from most to least angle:
Track 505A
Hammer Burn
Storm Reign
Roto-Grip Nomad Pearl
Storm Fast (not as much as the Reign in my opinion)
Storm Virtual Energy

Hopefully this helps.  If you got any more questions, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Good luck and good bowling!

video doesn't really do a lot, can't see a whole lot. Although I can tell that you need to work on getting down on the shot and not pulling up at the line. If you do that you will probably see more speed and revolutions without altering anything else.

Hyroad actually, From what he has told me. Solid, pearl, Hyroad is his favorite combo though. I am a 2 hander also, "2hander" and I've been doing it for 16 years. From your video, I agree with the above poster that you need to get down to the lane more, more knee bend, you need to clear your hips better and open your shoulders to the lane. You need to work on getting down and staying through your shot all the way, all your doing right now is flicking your wrist, your not getting close to your max speed or revolutions, you need to push all the way through your shot with your right hand and follow through, not just flick it. Watch some videos of Belmo, Osku Palermaa, and Cassidy Schaub and see how they throw it. I'll include a video of me from last year, I had a few things mechanically wrong while in this video that I fixed (was slumping at the time) but it gives you a general idea of how I throw it. If you have anymore questions or need any help feel free to ask, or PM me.
