Ball of the year
« on: January 26, 2012, 09:15:15 PM »
The subject of this thread got lost a bit, but since the dynamo and diamond core became prevalent, I'd like to add that with way more balls than I need, the Dynamo still remains in my bag on newer synthetics with control heavy viscosity oil to 41ft blend. I am not a hi rever either, I've had to take it down a bit, but it still offers better game on than my other oilers. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.
That said, the newer stuff is definitely stronger oob.

So what do you say about the shops that only sell Ebonite for special pricing?  Are we now limiting Ball of the Year to Ebonite only?

Your conclusion would indicate a ball that is so good and sold in every shop because it truely is that good would have to be the only ball the pro shop would recommend.  After all, it is sooooooo good.

Bowling is too subjective to say the Ball of the Year has to be sold in every shop.  Many consumers trust the advice of their pro shop and the pro shop is going to push what benefits him the most.

Actually, I would argue that, Yes, it would have to be sold in every pro shop. If the ball is truly THAT good, wouldn't every pro shop want to have it on its wall?

So the ball of the year HAS to be sold in every pro shop?  Is it only the most popular ball?

I agree sales has a lot to do with it; but performance of the ball, irregardless of sales, must play a large part also.

Yeah ok.  The ball of the year is going to be a ball that most pro shops don't carry?

Okay, so if you want to get so literal and mean EVERY SINGLE SHOP, then no. But I would argue that the majority of shops should sell the ball, and I could almost guarantee the majority of shops aren't selling motiv.

And not true about it being the only ball they'd recommend.  For example, when the Ball of the Year was the Virtual Gravity, no one should ever have recommended that for dry lanes to a customer, because no matter how good the ball was, it wouldn't work there.

And you are correct, bowling is too subjective for a question like this. However, for someone to come on here and say "without a doubt ______" when it's a ball very few, if any, pros are throwing them and very few amateurs are throwing them, and hardly any shops carry a full stock of them is kind of absurd to me.

If the ball truly is that good it'll be on the shelves in ALMOST all pro shops (minus any brand exclusive shops just to keep things clear).
