Why bowlers will never be taken seriously...
« on: September 24, 2008, 02:28:59 PM »
This is a true story, names and places have been left out to protect the parties involved.
I was at the local bowling center tonight, bowling in a nice friendly adult league.  These two very hot headed opponents were bowling against each other.  As practice began, words were already being exchanged.
Fast forward to an hour and a half and 6 beers later...
Things were becoming more and more heated, and increasingly personal.  Until one bowler made a comment about the other bowlers wife.  The other bowler took great offense to this and pushed the other bowler saying, "You wanna take this outside?!"
The other bowler stared intently into the other bowlers face, only inches from the other man said, "Yea! I think we should!" and shoved him back
then...the infamous words were spoken
"Let me just change my shoes first."
This was in no way an attempt to bring humor into the situation, this was a completely serious statement.
After the center manager put an end to all the insanity, I promptly asked this particular bowler to hand in his man card.

Tough guy bowlers are one step ahead of internet tough guys. However, they both rank extremely high in the overall Douchebag Scale.

and don't forget in a cupped position you are more likely to come over the top of Joey's head instead of a clean follow through up the back of his head. it makes a big difference as to how the weight block (in this case his brain) reacts to the dry boards....

If it was me fighting against this guy, I honestly couldn't have kept a straight face. I would have conceded the fight for the simple fact that anyone brave enough to say something that stupid when I'm getting ready to kick their @$$ should automatically win...that and the fact that I couldn't have stopped laughing.

His man-card should not have been handed in, just permanently revoked. He could have kept it for the memories.

I can see the posters now: a huge picture of the situation (both men, face to face, fists cocked), with the single quote underneath "Let me change my shoes first."

For a game based on the principles of science and math, bowling sure does have a bad habit of being illogical.

Did one of them have on a robby revs or a cobra or something because if they did and they didnt take that off, it would have been an unfair fight. LOL.
