« on: January 15, 2005, 09:23:27 AM »
I cant really go 3 games without my shoulder hurting, I throw 15 right now, should I go down to 14 pounds??

I never dreamed it would be me, My name for all eternity, Recorded here at this hallowed place Alas, my name, no more my face. "In the line of duty," I hear them say: My family now the price to pay. My folded flag stained with their tears; We only had those few short years. The badge no longer on my chest, I sleep now in eternal rest. My sword I pass to those behind, And pray they keep this thought in mind. I never dreamed it would be me, And with heavy heart and bended knee, I ask for all here from the past: Dear God, let my name be the last.

Hard to say. A lot depends on WHY your shoulder is hurting.  Some people find that when they drop down in weight, they tend to "overthrow" the ball, but when I went down to 14lbs, I needed the added speed anyway.

I had wrist problems, so I dropped as an experiment. I don't hurt anymore, my fingers aren't stiff the next day, and my average is just as high.  You will only lose a minimal amount of off pocket carry, but mine was more than made up for in increased accuracy with the 14lb balls

Average prior to drop- 210 to 215
Average after the drop- 212 to 216

If you do drop down, remember that you may need a stronger ball than you are currently using to help make up for any added speed you may experience. The bad part is, there is no way to know without trying it for yourself.

I go see the doc monday to FIND out WHY it hurts.. its also my wrist. I dont need to gain more speed or revs. Just want the arm pain to stop..

Don't mis-understand. The extra speed came naturally with the lower weight of the ball, not from trying to make up for a lighter ball.

Good luck with the doc, I have an appointment myself this thursday for a complete physical.

Hey bowler,

Seeing your doctor is the first recommended action because we don't know if it's an existing physical condition you have causing this pain or is it from you muscling the ball too much and trying to hit it too hard as well.

Hopefully your doctor can tell you what's wrong and whether or not dropping weight is even a viable alternative to your pain.

Hopefully you're not in my boat.  I tore a ligament in my rotator and I've put off surgery for over a year cause I can't afford to miss the time from the shop.  Good luck to you my friend...
