mybowlingcoach.com Anyone else using this service?
« on: October 03, 2006, 01:17:59 AM »
I just started using this service, I know it's a very new idea and looks very promising. It appears like the MBC service is just breaking ground, still in the building process and experiencing a few glitches and rather rocky here and there, as with all new innovative things most will realize some growing pains.  Fred Borden, Jeri Edwards, and Ron Hatfield are the primary coaches, with demonstrations base of Chris Barnes, Diandra (Hyman) Asbaty, Bill Hoffman and other special guests. The overall content is very good, if not in places excellent.  Please PM me here @ ballreviews.com or email me at kegler1x@yahoo.com if your using this service.

I wanted to check with other users and see how things are going.  I'm now up to lesson 17.  Interested in some input and maybe exploring the possibility of forming somekind of mybowlingcoach.com (MBC) user's group, so we can as users have more input, influence, add some voice, and suggestions to the service.

thanks,
Jon

I am very interested in this service.  The only problem I have is that while I can follow instructions, I wouldnt really have anyone there to tell me whether or not I'm doing anything right.  I guess thats the biggest disadvantage to going out an practicing by yourself.  I'll give this service a try sometime when I can gather some cash.

Yeah, how do the lessons actually work if no one can see you?

Just a little more information; Fred Borden is tied in with USA coaching (instrumental in creation of the USA coaching program, later USBC coaching). The website was built in cooperation with USBC Coaching and the governing body supports MBC. They do encourage the MBC members to get a USBC certified coach.  In fact, it is the "sounding board" if not "mantra" that they keep repeating.  What they offer is a definite master plan for learning, practicing and competing.  Yes, one can, I believe, from the information so far go it on your own - and take the information to the lanes.  I've opted to use the information in conjunction with a "bronze level" USBC certified coach.  Seems to be a good mix.  MBC fee of $49.95 for year is a steal, to have Fred Borden, Geri Edwards and Ron Hatfield, not to mention Chris Barnes pro tips.  Already feel like I got my monies worth after a few lessons.  Heck, people will spend $30-$50 for a coach for an hour.  My plan is use the MBC program + a session every quarter with a flesh and blood coach (non-digital coach).  This information is recommended by MBC to be used with any USBC certified coach.
I repeat, one could do it on their own, there seems to be enough "fundamentally rich" information given that it could work for a "do it yourselfer".  I think if anything, this program gives you a gradual sequentual weekly lesson program, that builds on your bowling knowledge step by step.

$49.95 is a really good deal for a year.  Hmm...

Just for everybodys information, i am currently setting up my online coaching program. I will have the ability to take videos that you send me, review them and put a lesson plan together for you. There will be 2 options available : "quick tips" & "full digital analysis". I'm trying my hardest to make this available within the next 2-3 weeks. I'm also working on a "arsenal assembly" program, similar to the build an arsenal website

That would be great Jeff.  I am an Avid Storm fan, and an Avid Jeff Carter fan, and looking to improve my game.  I average 210-220 in leagues, but can't seem to do well in tournaments.  I recently have a great arsenal, but now need some added tips to start working on....Thanks Jeff, and good luck this year, I know you will do great.

Sounds like an exciting program your going to offer Jeff.  I especially, like your video analysis idea and arsenal building program.  Best of luck with the digital coaching service. I think these kinds of web based coaching service pay sites (which are value oriented = Teacher has no traveling and conservation of time consumed per student; win - win), when augmented by a down on the lanes personal coach or even a sit down consulting with pro coach would be a dynamite combination to get ones bowling to the next level.  I see a definite need for both for the aspiring bowler.  Keep up the great work, love your site, and your generousity in sharing your professional knowledge to the ballreviews.com members!
