Title: Under Pressure? What do you do?

Yesterday I needed one more strike for a $1000 strike pot, my usual game plan for this shot is to throw it a pinch harder, and so far it has worked great.  

Needless to say, I over analysed the situation, moved a board left and increased the speed by a hair causing the flat 10.  

I moved because I saw the guys ahead of me go 4 pin and wanted to avoid going high.

What are the querks that you guys do when shooting for the big game/series/money?

Exactly....why would you make changes and adjustments for a shot when you have been striking?  Unless you have seen things with YOUR ball reaction....why give up a good thing?

If you planned on throwing it harder then I wouldn’t have moved. You have to know your tendencies under pressure situations.

But for the most part I try to simply stay in my routine. If I feel extra pressure I take a deep cleansing breathe before starting my routine. And then try to recreate the feel of a good shot.

Take a deep breath next time and try to relax. If that doesnt work get a drank.. You already know what you need to do so make it happen

When I'm under pressure I think about all the times I've done it before, and not the failures.

Know you've been there before, and will be back again, thats what does it for me.

if you've ever needed 29 and got 30, you know what im talking about.

Do not think to much about it. I was in the same boat. Needed a strike for a $1,800 Strike pot. I was striking away and came to that final stike pot frame.
Hit the pocket the six pin hit the 10 pin and the 10 pin slide standing up all the way left and became the 8 pin. No stike. Just had to say, "The pendejo Pin."

Easy.  I'd screw it up.  Every long (5+) string of strikes I've had has ended with a lousy shot rather than a ringing-10 or a weak-10.  Six or seven in a row, especially if they're the front six or seven (or we're needing more to catch up in score), I almost guarantee the next one will go through the nose.

When I shot my first 278 game a two weeks ago, the last ball in the 10th, the one I needed to get that 100 pins over average, went brooklyn and I got lucky.

When the day comes that I've got the front 11, I'll take my 290/11-in-a-row and go home.  I hope it's not the first game of the set.  I'd rather that than live with the shame of a 293.

What I try to think of is leaving the 9 pin.  I know I have to hit the pocket, but I don't want to worry about the "carry".  If I "try" to leave a 9 pin, then I will just relax and hit my spot.  This usually works to keep me relaxed.

Saturday night it worked against me, front nine strikes, then 9 PIN!!!  
SH!TTT!!!  Fluke of all flukes!  Oh well, another 279...
