Understanding Weight Blocks to Build Your Arsenal

Interesting stuff, but I'm sure they really did much to explain anything.

Also, I hear that Walter Ray doesn't concern himself much with drilling details, he just throws the ball.  I guess he isn't ready to be an elite bowler!

WRW has always been a guy to make adjustments with surface rather than layout.  One or two simple layouts with a multitude of surfaces and he's good to go.  Other bowlers use different layouts.  Since surface is supposedly 70% of ball reaction, using surface to make adjustments seems like a no-brainer.

Yeah, but listen from around 2:30 to 3:15.

I'll do my best to paraphrase:

Once you understand weight blocks, RG, low and high, coverstocks and finishes, pin positions, and learn the different wrist adjustments, then you are becoming an elite player and are ready to take on Chris Barnes and get out on tour.

WRW usually answers drilling/layout questions with:
"I am sorry, but I am not a ball driller. The best person to suggest ball drillings would be a good pro shop driller in your area that knows the way you bowl and the lane conditions that you bowl on. I regret that I am unable to give you the type of information that you would like."

How I wish I had sound!

I must say that the more I bowl, the more I see which weight blocks work best for my game.  Not only that, but more so pin positions too.
